What about Women’s Hair Loss

female_hair_loss_replacement_baltimore_maryland Hair loss in women is less common as compared to men. But when it happens, its effects are enormous. Men may embrace their baldness, but I have not seen a single woman on the planet, who can do the same. In addition to the effects, the options to treat hair loss are very limited for women as compared to men. Let us examine why women have fewer options to treat hair loss, and how they can overcome these limitations.

The difference between men and women hair loss
Most men lose their hair because it is written in their genes. A few lose them due to other reasons. Regardless of the cause, hair loss in men follows a certain pattern. Men start losing hair from hairline and crown of the head. Ultimately, their hairline vanishes and the bald scalp meets the crown on their heads, leaving a strip of hair along the sides and the back of their heads. That is the reason that it is called male pattern baldness. The hairs on the sides and back of men’s head are very tough, and do not fall easily. This phenomenon presents a unique opportunity for men in the form of hair transplant. A hair transplant effectively redistributes these balding resistant hairs to the required area, solving the problem for a long-term.
In contrast, most women do not have any balding resistant areas. Most women experience overall thinning of hair all over the head. This makes them unsuitable for a hair transplant.
How hair loss in women can be treated
The best way to treat hair loss in women is to investigate and treat the underlying cause.Usually genetics combine with other factors to aggravate hair loss. In many instances, hormonal imbalances cause hair loss in women. Treating hormonal imbalances will have a dramatic effect on the hair health.
There are certain medicines available to treat certain types of hair loss in women. Please note that medication has its limits to treat hair loss and its effect is temporary.
Not all women face overall thinning of hair all across their head. Many women have adequate supply of donor hair follicles on their heads. In such cases, they are equally good candidate for a hair transplant.
