In Which Cases is FUE Better than Strip Technique?

Hair-Transplant-2 FUE and strip removal are two widely used techniques for harvesting donor hair in a hair transplant surgery. FUE is a microsurgical method for hair transplant that extracts individual hair grafts and plant them in a bald or balding patch. As the name indicates strip removal extracts a strip of donor tissue usually from the back of the scalp, extracts hair follicles from the strip and plants them in the bald patch.

When FUE is preferred over strip removal
Both the techniques are widely used in hair transplant surgeries around the globe. However, many hair transplant seekers prefer FUE over a strip technique. Let’s see in which cases people consider FUE better than strip technique.
· Hair transplant seekers who want to avoid a long linear scar in the back of their scalp does not go for the strip removal as it leaves a clearly visible scar that they would need to hide through their hairstyle. FUE is an ideal choice in such cases because it gives dotted scars that will not be visible even with a buzz cut. No one will notice those dotted scars until you decide to have your hair shaved off after a hair transplant!
· People who cannot take several days off their work and want to have a quick recovery process so that they will be able to resume their daily routine like FUE because it gives a shorter recovery period as compared to strip removal. Usually patients go to their work the same day after FUE.
· Hair transplant is a minimally invasive procedure however, it does involve some pain because it is a surgery after all. FUE is a good choice if you want to avoid a significant amount of pain during and after surgery. Usually patients who have FUE report that they experience minimal amount of pain. Nevertheless, the amount of pain varies from one person to another. What is found painful may not be considered painful or may be considered more painful by the other person.
· FUE is an appropriate procedure for those who have tight scalp. In such a case surgeon cannot take out a strip of donor tissue but taking individual follicular units from such a scalp is not a challenge.
· People who do not have any hair supply on their scalp and want to have a hair transplant can only be treated through FUE. FUE harvests non-scalp hair to plant them on the scalp or to any other area of the body. Strip removal cannot take out non-scalp hair. It can only be used to extract scalp hair.
· Unlike strip removal, FUE is practiced only by experienced and highly qualified hair transplant surgeons. It means you can be pretty sure that your hair restoration would give you good results. However, you must not forget to add your effort in finding a good surgeon so that you will have satisfying outcome.
· FUE is continually evolving with time. Researchers are still busy in making it finer than ever. It has freed this procedure of many flaws that it had in past and you can hope that you will see more improvements in future. A recent technological advancement has made the surgeons’s task easy in performing FUE through the introduction of robots. Automation has made the procedure more efficient and quick.
FUE is an amazing procedure to get your hair done. However, it may not be an appropriate choice in some cases. In fact, it is your surgeon who can recommend you which method is suitable for you. Feel free to book a consultation if you want to know more about the treatment.
